Maggie Stiefvater Signing & Guest Vlog for the YA Word Nerds!

So May 26th, The Brookline Public Library had Maggie Stievfater for a signing.
And it was kind of a big deal.
A REALLY big deal.

When Maggie announced she'd be coming to MA, I freaked. She had originally only posted about going to Plainville, which was a good hour+ DRIVE. So there was a whole big deal on grouping up and driving down with some friends. But then Maggie announced she's be coming to Brookline, which was only a 20 min walk from my work! Commence flailing.

I stalked Maggie's twitter and tumblr about the past tour stops and how all the tickets and books were selling out like water before a hurricane.

Then The Brookline public library posted that there would be tickets for the event. They'd be on sale May 5th at 10am. I marked my calendar. I made an alarm.

May 5th came.
I was at work, but I work at a computer, so I had the eventbrite page up, all signed in, pressing the refresh button like crazy from 9:55 to 9:59 when the button glowed green!
AHAH! I quickly clicked buy and got my ticket, at the same time g-chat-screaming at my friend Lauren to get her's too.

Those tickets sold out in less than ten minutes.

I got to the event around 5:30 and killed time chatting with Annie while we waited for the doors to open at 6pm. The library building is SO beautiful. I swear, libraries in the Boston area are gorgeous.

We waited in the line to get into the doors. We were pretty early, which was good because seats were first come first serve with 'seating' tickets. Annie had a standing ticket :(
While in line we met up with Melissa, Molly, Lauren, and saw Rachel and Nicole helping out! Rachel was actually doing the live tweeting from the library's handle for anyone who couldn't make it.
The Library has a bunch of amazingly delicious southern food available, with yummy sweet tea to wash it all down. The butter pie was out of this world, and I  forget the name of my favorite thing, I think it was some sort of bread pudding?
Maggie also brought her car cover for everyone to sign while the book signing was going on too.
Then Maggie came! And she was amazing. She's a star performer. She talked about how one particular ugly baby one made her rethink her life and career of a portrait artist
. Her fainting goats, and her trip to Wales. And also how she raced John Green. Sort of :P
(Maggie comparing her silky fainting goats to her silky hair.)
(Her trip to Wales)
She's just so animated and such an entertainer!
In her FAQs she said she's accept friendship bracelets. So I made one and put tied it on and she commented that the colors were The Raven King's cover colors. :D I'm so glad she liked it.
(Picture of the book, and if you look closely, I'm holding the bracelet I made over the cover)
I got my Curiosities book signed, and bought The Raven King and a paperback of The Scorpio Races at the event.

Another thing that happened was that I was asked by the wonderful YA Word Nerds to do a guest Vlog!! A while ago, when they were taking auditions, Kellie had reached out to me asking if I'd apply since she had been my mentor for this past NaNoWriMo. I wanted to SO BADLY. But I wasn't sure if I could give it the appropriate time the job requires. I applied anyways, but mentioned my dilemma and how I'd love to do some guest vlogs if they ever needed.

Well, Here it is! My first guest vlog on the YA Word Nerds! I chose the topic of Book signings in lieu of my recent constant goings to them recently and comparing them to Maggie's. It was my first time doing a full vlog length video and I was up tll 2am editing my 40+ mins of footage down to something I hope is more clean? After editing this my respect for the Word Nerds has quadrupled! Haha
See below!

If you haven't heard of the YA Word Nerds, you're seriously missing out. These girls update the channel EVER DAY with bookish things. Writing advice, reading recommendations, live Sunday chats with a different topic each week, monthly book club talks, and even live write ins! They do it all.

The End of The Malediction Trilogy + INT Giveaway!

I've been in love with The Malediction Trilogy by Danielle Jensen, since Stolen Songbird first came out. It was one of those underrated books that needs more light shown on it.

There was one point where I thought I'd never even get to finish the series. This was when Strange chemistry closed down, and so the books they were publishing were stranded, including Hidden Huntress and the third, yet to be named book.

I was so glad that Angry Robot picked up the amazing series, and then they even had a fan Art contest! One of which I HAD to join. I was so excited. I never had the urge to draw fan art as much as when I read Stolen Songbird.

I drew my favorite scene:
And then, I just couldn't stop and had to draw Tristan doing some brainstorming:
I won the first place prize and even got to have a Skype chat with Danielle! It was so much fun and she was so incredibly nice!
Angry Robot sent me a trophy and signed copies of Stolen Songbird and Hidden Huntress <3

These fanarts of Hidden Huntress and Warrior Witch are probably spoilers. So if you want to skip to the bottom for the Book info/ Giveaway, then do so!
When Hidden Huntress came out, there was this one scene that would not leave me alone. I just couldn't get it out of my head. I knew I had to draw it... Tristan's first view of the sky:

And my Favorite scene from Warrior Witch...
*hides face* How could I not choose this one moment where we get everything we've been waiting for an more?!
This is a series that I feel particularly attached to. I'm so sad to see this series end... but I'm so excited to see what Danielle comes out with next!
